July 12, 1986- October 27, 2013

Joseph Preston Blount, 27 years old, of Savannah, Georgia departed this life after a short and sudden illness on October 27, 2013. He is survived by his parents Mr. Clinton and Jan Blount, one sister Bethany Chanel Blount, a host of cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and friends. Although he was born with special needs, throughout his life he was a cheerful person. He attended and graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School in 2007. Joseph loved gospel music and sports. He will be sadly missed by everyone.

Howard H. Beasley

October 24, 2013 - Leave a Condolence

Howard Beasley, age 82, of Savannah passed away on Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a veteran of the Korean war, and a Mason.

He is survived by his three children; Lisa A. DuBose (William), Ronnie Beasley, and Michael Beasley; a sister, Doris Kratz; three grandchildren, Danielle Driggers, Erika DuBose, & Sara Beasley; two great-grandchildren, Carmen Driggers & Michael Benson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27th, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Families First Funeral Care. Graveside Services will be held Monday, October 28th, at 2:00 pm in the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fleming, Georgia.

James Edward Barnes

October 17, 2013 - Leave a Condolence

James Edward Barnes, age 68, went to his heavenly home Thursday, October 17, 2013 after a short illness.

He was the youngest son of Edward Barnes and Ruth Knight Barnes, born on August 26, 1945. He grew up in Port Wentworth, Georgia, where he was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, a lifelong Volunteer Firefighter for the Port Wentworth and Garden City Fire Departments, a fifteen-year member of the Port Wentworth Lions Club and a member of the Port Wentworth Senior Citizen Center. He retired from Great Dane Trailers in September 2007.

James is survived by his Sister, Theresa Arennetta Lawrence of Garden City, Georgia, his Brother Weldon Eugene Barnes of Pooler, Georgia, 33 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20. 2013 from 3pm – 5pm at Families First Funeral Care & Cremation Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, October 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, Georgia, Pep Blackwelder officiating. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park-West along-side his parents.

Leroy White

October 17, 2013 - Leave a Condolence

OUR “PAPA”

On Thursday, October 17, 2013, Leroy (Papa) White, entered into eternal

rest. Leroy, 75, of Savannah, Georgia was born on March 01, 1938, the

oldest and only son born to James and Dora Mae White.

Leroy accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior at a young age and was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.

Leroy, was very well liked and loved by everyone who came into his presence. He was lovable, funny, and stern. He was a big Grizzly Bear. Force-full, direct, big and hard but yet had a loving heart of gold.

Leroy was educated in the Chatham County public school system and was a graduate of Alfred Ely Beach High School, a true Bulldog. After graduating Leroy enlisted into the US Army to fight for the Country he truly loved.

Leroy entered in to Holy Matrimony to Diann Smith, December 23, 1965 in Savannah, GA. Their union together begat 6 children. They later relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1975. He later joined Summerville Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James W. Henry.

Preceding Leroy in death, his parents James and Dora Mae White of Savannah, Georgia and his son Joseph L Brannen.

He leaves to mourn: His Soul Mate and Best friend Diann Smith-White, of Jacksonville, Florida: One Sister Betty (Rev.Cecil )White-Wilson of Bristol, Florida; Brother–in-law Alvin (Joyce) Smith of Savannah, Georgia; One Aunt Lillie Mae Allen of Savannah, Georgia; Five daughters: Cynthia Brannen McKinney, Alexine Smith of Savannah, Georgia; Jacquline Smith, Yolanda (David) White-Mapp, Sabrina (Steve) White-Williams of Jacksonville, Florida; One nephew John (Ayda) Howard, III of Long Beach, California; Daughter-in-law Janice Brannen of Savannah, Georgia; 20 Grand-Children, 35 Great-grandchildren a host of cousins, family and friends.
