Craig Louis Dorse

September 29, 2016 - 1 Condolence

Craig Louis Dorse, 63, of Savannah died Wednesday, September 28th, 2016 at his residence, under the outstanding care of Compassionate Care Hospice and the VA Doctors and staff.

Born in Tampa, Florida. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and was in Retail Sales for Sit and Sleep Mattress.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lorene Dorse, James and Jeanne McKay, his sisters, Pamela Pablo, Pat Bragg and brother Bud Drawdy.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Kenny Jackson, four nieces, Jamie Lane, Melissa Ford, Lacie Day, Stephanie Ward, several great nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends and his beloved dog Molly.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1st, 2016, from 4 pm to 7 pm, with a brief service at 5 pm, at 315 McAlpin Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contribution to Compassionate Care Hospice.

Tommy “Pops” Devereaux

September 27, 2016 - 1 Condolence

Mr. Tommy “Pops” Devereaux died Monday, September 26th, 2016 at Memorial Health University Medical Center surrounded by his family. Tommy was resident of Eden, Georgia.

He was born on March 4, 1945 in Allenhurst, Georgia to Owen Lawrence Devereaux and Essie Caroline Devereaux, and grandparents James Caren Devereaux and Emma Yarborough Devereaux, who preceded him in death.

After a long career of being a mechanic, he retired to enjoy his hobby of fixing and riding motorcycles.

Surviving are his wife Grace Devereaux, of Eden, Georgia, a son, Mark Devereaux of Eden, Georgia; brothers and a sister.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Families First Funeral Care. Graveside Services will follow at 11:15 AM in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park – West.

Betty “Nita” H. Howell

September 23, 2016 - 6 Condolences

Betty Juanita Hortman Howell, 63, of Savannah, passed way on September 22, 2016 at home with her family In Savannah,GA after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Nita, as she was known by her family and friends was a loving wife, mother, nanny and “super” nanny. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jimmy Howell, in 2001.

She is survived by her loving daughters Missy Bird (John), Cissy Merritt (Wesley), Daughter in-law Lori Hart (Tim), grandchildren Devan Bird (Beth), Ashley Kiernan (Jason), Melinda Poole, Dylan Raffield, Shannon Merritt, Brandon Merritt, and Michael Bird, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Sisters Dianne Dykes (Denny), Kathy Walls, Brothers Willie Shupe (Michelle) and Charles Shupe as well as her long time best friend Marylou Wolfe.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mary Elizabeth Grier

September 22, 2016 - Leave a Condolence

Mary Elizabeth Grier, 75, of Midway, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18th, surrounded by her family and friends.

She retired from the Bryan County Board of Education after serving many years.

She leaves behind six children; Julie Spry (Joseph), Emory Reiser (Deborah), Mark Reiser, Dennis Reiser (Cynthia), Tina Reynolds (Lew), and Tammy Boggess (Gary); several grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly; several sisters and many friends.

Mrs. Mary will be dearly missed by all. She has touched many hearts throughout the years.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 4:00 pm at 99 West 1st Street, Midway, Georgia for friends and family.
