Viola Phyllis Johnson was born on April 10th, 1945 in Burton, South Carolina.
Viola, known to her family and friends as “Ms. Brown”, age 72, of Savannah passed away on Friday April 21st, 2017 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah Georgia.
Viola graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School in 1957. She married Clarence Brown, Jr. on November 11th, 1971. She worked at Candler Hospital as a Food Service Aide for many years before she became ill and had to retire.
She was preceded in death by her mother Daisy L. Tolbert, a brother Richard Eugene Tolbert, and her husband Clarence Brown, Jr. who passed on March 24th, 2017. She is survived by her father Moses Tolbert; four sons, Herbert Scott, III (Sonia), La Roy V. Scott, Robert T. Brown, Michael A. Brown (Sheri); honorary daughter, Pam Hinton; two daughters Sherol Brown, Rosa Brown, one brother Michael Brooks, two sisters, Thelma J. Tolbert, Harrisene Tolbert, three sisters in-laws Carolyn Shields (Leon), Gina Tolbert and Deloris Brown. Nineteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
