Vera White Shaw

Vera White Shaw, 95, passed away on June 23, 2017 in her home on Wilmington Island in Savannah,Georgia, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Shallotte, North Carolina on March 8, 1922 and she lived with her late husband, Thomas J. Shaw, Jr. in Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Shaw Newsome, grandson Kyle Newsome, granddaughters, April Page and Ciara Cope, and great granddaughter Julia Blair Page of Savannah, Georgia, and her daughter Billie Ann Kimbrell, and granddaughters, Vee Kimbrell and Erin Kimbrell of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Shallotte, North Carolina.

Barbara Brannen, age 59, of Pembroke passed away Sunday, June 18th, 2017 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 at 10:00 am in Families First Funeral Care, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Karen Russom Smith

June 13, 2017 - 1 Condolence

Karen Russom Smith, 80, passed away on June 9, 2017.

She was born May 8, 1937 in Rochelle, Georgia to Ruby Griffin and John Russom. Karen lived in Savannah, Georgia most of her life and enjoyed bingo, reading and word search puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Smith; sisters Sylvia Blake and Elizabeth Smith. Survivors include her daughters Kathryn (Glenn) Thompson, Sharon Winters; grandchildren, Kristina Shea Jones, Brittney, Josh and Conor Winters; Kamryn Thompson, great grandchildren, Travis, Wesley, Victoria, Amber, Abby, Caiden, 4 great great-grandchildren; her sisters, Shirley (Bob) Stewart, Barbara Daggett, brothers John Russom and Donald Jerry Russom; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 6412 Waters Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association online at donatenow.heart.org or 1101 Northchase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067-6411.
