Shirley Ann Clarke, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Hospice Savannah.

She was born October 8, 1945, in the Bronx of New York City and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. She moved to Savannah in 1972, after living in Dallas, Texas for 8 years. She worked for the City of Savannah for 27 years and retired in 2006, working her final years at the Mary Flournoy Golden Age Center.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Bell Newton, and sisters, Barbara Clarke and Theresa Clarke. She will forever be loved and remembered by her children, Angela Calloway and Lonney Clarke, granddaughter, Tarsha (Aaron) Taylor, grandsons, Kenneth Calloway Jr., Demetrius Clarke, Antonio Lee and Christopher Soloman, great-grandson, Khalil Lee, dog Queenie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 11:00 to 11:30 am at Families First Funeral Care with Graveside Services to follow at 12:00 pm in Magnolia Memory Gardens.

Mr. William Jawan Patterson of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the age of 39.

William was born to parents Armintha Patterson and William E. Patterson, III on August 19, 1982. He was preceded in death by his father and grandfather, William Patterson, II. Surviving siblings, Tammie Kelly (Ricky), Shantel Rhodes Johnson (Willie), and Kristopher Patterson (Crystal). The family wishes to acknowledge his close relationship with nieces Nasha Howard, Adeja Kelly, Liesha Johnson, Kyla Patterson, Kamya Patterson, Jalayah Hymon, J’lani Hymon and nephews, Rickey B. Kelly, Jamison Johnson, Jordyn Kelly, Gavin Johnson and Goddaughter, Peyton Walker and best friend, Princetta Walker; along with many, many loving friends and family members who he loved dearly.

Jawan was a loving and caring uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. Jawan loved his family. During the course of raising them he started using different techniques to teach each child. He spent hours videotaping the children and encouraging all of them. During the later years of his life he loved playing cards and cooking for his family. He had a great sense of humor and was always available for friends and family. Always willing to listen without judgement and lend a helping hand.

Family and friends were invited to attend William’s Memorial Reception which was held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 between the hours of 12 and 4:30 pm at the Willow Lakes residence.

Diane Williamson Whitman, 76, passed away quietly at home on Oct. 3, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Dock Williamson and Virginia G. Gebhardt. She is survived by her three sons, Steve Hodges, Jimmie Hodges and Randall Hodges, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Survived also by one sister, Debra Cowart, two brothers, Charles Williamson and Erv Bordner, and three nieces and three nephews.

Diane was a Savannah native and lived here most of her life. She had a very vibrant personality and loved talking to people, never meeting a stranger. She had a big heart and helped many people in her lifetime. She loved music and dancing. She had a green thumb and took pride in her flowers and her yard. She will be missed dearly by all those who loved her.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Greenwich Cemetery.

Barbara Rose Barnes, age 72 of Pooler, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on October 4, 2021. She was a loving wife, loving mother and a great friend to many. She will be missed.

Barbara was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on February 4, 1949. She was married to her husband of 49 years, Weldon Eugene Barnes. They were married on July 13, 1972. They had two children together, Brad Elliott Barnes and Lisa Renee Barnes. They have one grandchild, Michael Garrett Barnes, whom Barbara loved very much.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Weldon Barnes, her two children Brad(Kimberly) and Lisa Barnes, her grandson Michael G. Barnes “MB”, her brother Reuben C. Bedwell Jr. “Buddy”(Gwen) Bedwell and her sister Diane(Carey) Fuller. She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben C. Bedwell Sr. and Hilda Inez Bedwell, her brother Dorsey B. Bedwell and her grandparents.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 am immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00am which will be held at Radiant Life Church, 5619 Skidaway Rd, Savannah, GA 31406 on Friday, October,8th 2021.
