Mrs. Janice Eugenia Rich (Genia) at the age of 66 passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia at Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Rich was born January 26, 1958, in Savannah Georgia. Genia was the daughter of Carolyn Elaine Cannon and Arthur Eugene (Judy) Cannon Sr.

Genia was preceded in death by her late brother “Brudder” Arthur Eugene Cannon Jr., and brother-in-law William Hammond Sr.

Mrs. Rich has survived by her husband Charles Rich of Swainsboro, Brother Roy (Cindy) Cannon of Savannah, Pam Hammond of Guyton, GA, a son Raymond Horton of Savannah, GA, and her beloved daughter Tolita Hope Willis (Joseph Brown) of Dexter, GA. Also, she leaves behind many cherished and very much-loved grandchildren; Katelyn (Ryan) Kitchens of Milledgeville, GA, Wyatt Horton of Milledgeville, GA, Karlie Horton of Eatonton, GA, Norma Miller of Woodbine, GA, Sierra Willis, Olivia Chalker, and Georgia Brown all of Dexter, GA. Several nieces and nephews; Tami Randolph, Christina Ray, Shelly Franklin, Catie Neverson, William Hammond Jr, and Tyler Edenfield, Jamie Edenfield, Jereme Edenfield and Chip Cannon.

Mrs. Rich will also be leaving behind many people who she considered her children to whom she loved very much; Angel Kelly of Dublin, GA, Jessica Manus of Rentz, GA, Misty Brandon of Rentz, GA, and Alicia Pickle of Dublin, GA. She also loved and thought of their children as her grandbabies.

There were many people who loved Mrs. Rich (Genia). Genia brought joy to every gathering and was the life of the party. She loved all things beautiful and anything that took place outside.
Genia was a simple soul who found the greatest joy in the little things in life. She enjoyed going to the beach, the mountains, playing games on her phone, and doing anything that made her grandchildren giggle. Genia loved to have fun, laugh, and be goofy. Everyone who loved her will miss her terribly because she was the one thing that kept the family going.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Families First Funeral Care, 1328 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

Cheryl Beth Pattinson passed away on December 22, 2024, in Port Wentworth, Georgia.

She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Michaleen Whitaker; her sister, Michele Smiley (Mark); her brother, William Pattinson (Masako); her children, John Pattinson (Katherine) and Brianna Campbell (Raymond); and her three cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Carson, and Soren. Cheryl was preceded in death by her daughter Ashley and her father William Pattinson.

Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Cheryl attended Fordson High School. She had a lifelong passion for reading, Cheryl also found joy in playing computer games and singing karaoke with heartfelt enthusiasm, filling the room with lively melodies and laughter. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren, creating moments of love and happiness that will remain forever in their hearts.

Cheryl’s personality, sense of humor and vibrant spirit brightened the lives of everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, joy and her strength will continue to inspire those she touched. May she rest peacefully, and may her memory bring comfort to all who hold her dear.

Offer Condolence for the family of Virginia Mae Dasher

Arthur E. Wolters, 95 years old, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on December 10, 2024.

Art was born on June 6, 1930, in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of Ernest and Clara Wolters, grew up in Jersey City, and graduated from William L. Dickinson High School. Art attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and was valedictorian of his class in 1950. He went on to obtain a Master of Science from MIT in 1951. Art worked as a chemical engineer for DuPont for 34 years. His work at DuPont focused on materials science, particularly in the development of Teflon. Throughout his tenure at DuPont, he worked at several locations including Memphis, TN, Orange TX, Wilmington, DE, and Parkersburg, WV.

Art was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Patricia celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July 2024. They met in Niagara Falls, NY, married in 1954, and had three children. Art was passionate about a variety of hobbies including flying, sailing, boating, astronomy, singing, and classical music. He earned his pilot’s license and loved flying Cessna single engine planes, traveled to view and photograph the 1991 total solar eclipse in Mexico, instilled a love of boating in his children, and sailed with the Landings Sailing Club in Savannah, GA. In addition, Art was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed volunteering to tutor children in math and science.

Art is survived by his wife, Patricia, his three children and their spouses, Jim Wolters and Liz McCune, Pam Wolters and Steve Holden, and Rob and Diane Wolters, and their children, James Wolters; Samantha, Matthew, and Allison Holden; and Madison and Mitchell Wolters.

A celebration of life will be held on later date. Friends and family are invited to share memories and stories of Art during this time of remembrance on the Familiesfirstcare.com website.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Art’s memory. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
