Thomas Michael Presley

Thomas Michael Presley, 70 passed away March 25 2025 at his home, after a long illness. He was under the care of Hospice. Born on April 4 th , 1954, Mike was born and raised in Savannah and later spent many years in Bulloch County. Mike was a certified welder by trade, and enjoyed growing vegetables, fishing and grilling out.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Fain Thomas Presley, Mother, Margaret “Idell” Smith and a sister, Tammy Presley Mayton.

He is survived by his Children, Shannon Presley (Stephanie), Zachary Presley, Joshua Presley (Amy), Summer Presley, Courtney Presley, sister Lisa Fletcher (Scotty) and several grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Mikes life will be held at a later date.

Roger Harlan Haugen

March 26, 2025 - 1 Condolence

Roger Harlan Haugen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on May 28, 1945, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Trygve Haugen and Vivian Nelson, Roger lived a full and adventurous life dedicated to his family and passions.

Roger proudly served in the Air National Guard and went on to work in diverse fields, including as a California forest firefighter, an employee at O’Hare Airport in Chicago, and a private pilot instructor. Later, he became self-employed with Better Packages before co-founding Duffield Cabinets in Florida.

On March 19, 1977, Roger married the love of his life, Gisela Elise (Stork), in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their family and eventually settling in Florida—his dream state—where they enjoyed sunshine, beaches, and quality time together. In 2024, after being diagnosed with bladder cancer, Roger and Gisela moved to Savannah, Georgia, to be with their daughter Gabrielle and her family.

Roger was a man of many talents and interests. He loved flying, scuba diving, woodworking, relaxing by the pool and hot tub, and soaking up the sun. Above all, he cherished time with his family, who affectionately knew him as “Opi.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Trygve Haugen; his mother, Vivian Nelson; and his stepfather, Birney Nelson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gisela Haugen; his children, Christie Haugen, Gabrielle Polley (Jim), and Robert Jones; his grandchildren, Marissa Lay, Kristin Perrin, Justin Jones, Natalee Perrin, and Victoria Polley; and his great-granddaughters, Lily Lay and Lucy Jane Lay. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Reisinger (Gordon); his nieces, Kathy Walker (Johnny) and Kristen Gilchrist (Cory); his nephew, Todd Reisinger; and many more beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roger was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. He faced his illness with courage and faith, never complaining of pain.

Curtis Roberts, affectionately known as “Pops,” age 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in Savannah, Georgia. A proud Savannah native, Curtis was the beloved son of the late Maggie T. Roberts. He
dedicated over 18 honorable years of service to the United States Army, serving as a Combat Signaler for 4 years and 7 months, and as a Military Police Officer for 13 years and 5 months. His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and many more honors recognizing his commitment and courage.

Curtis was a man of profound wisdom, unwavering strength, and deep devotion to his family. He lived a life full of adventure and meaning—traveling the world, embracing new experiences, and creating cherished memories along the way. Whether serving his country or spending time with loved ones, he led with heart, humor, and humility.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Maggie T. Roberts. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his children: Anetra Roberts Williams and Nikki Roberts Scott, both of Atlanta, GA; Kyle Smith of Atlanta, GA; Johnesha Grant Capers of Savannah, GA; and Shawn Smith of Stuttgart, Germany. He is also survived by a host of beloved family members and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.

Katie Tompkins Morse

Katie Tompkins Morse, 100 years young, went home to the Lord on March 20th, 2025.

Katie was born in Dublin, GA, but everyone would say she was a Savannah native. Katie was always willing to fry you a meal, put you in a room, and give you all the gardening and lawn tips. Her tell it like it is attitude and sharp wit remained with her until the end of her amazing 100 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Christopher L. Morse Jr., her son, Robert L. Morse, and her daughter, Brenda C. Beck.

She leaves behind a large loving family; her son, Christopher L. Morse III (Lynda), her daughter-in-law, Jo Morse (Robert), 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren, caring neighbors, and many more who loved her.

Susan Monroe Gwartney

Susan Monroe Gwartney, 68, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on March 19, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Thomas Monroe, and brother, Mike Monroe.

Susan is survived by her loving family: daughters, Melody Futch (Robert) of Ellabell and Melissa Grizzard (Shane) of Savannah; grandchildren, Melaina Warren (Chelsea), Jason Futch (Alyssa), Lacy Tootle (Ben), and Autumn Grizzard; great children, AJ Miller, Hadley Tootle and River Tootle; sister, Gayla Reffner (Joey) of Pembroke; She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

A private memorial service is planned to honor Susan’s life.
