Johnny Leon Smith, 68 of Bloomingdale, Georgia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 16, 2021, after a long illness.

Johnny was born April 2, 1953, in Waynesboro, Georgia and was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Smith and Frances Cliett Smith of Blythe, Georgia; two brothers Bobby Ray Smith of Palm Coast, Florida and Harold E. Smith of Reidsville, Georgia; ex-wife Madelyn Redmond, her son Charles Redmond and grandson Garrett Sloan.

Johnny was a retired master brick mason and decade long Lowe’s sales associate in Pooler, Georgia. He was a life-long outdoorsman, avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time on the great Ogeechee River, telling stories of his many adventures there, singing his favorite country songs and smoked BBQ. He was a truly incredible man with a great big heart who dearly loved his family and friends and was loved by all who knew him. His pain is over, where ours begins as we mourn his passing.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Brinson Smith; ex-wife Mary Clifton Saxon; two sons, Gary Smith and Jason Smith; brother, Gerald Smith; sister, Linda Smith Wilson; sisters-in-law, Annette and Mellita Smith; grandchildren, Jordan, Hunter and Ryleigh; stepchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Johnny’s Life will be held at the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Museum, 681 Fort Argyle Road in Savannah, Georgia on August 1, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
