Mr. Alan Shelton was born on November 9, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frank and Juanita Shelton. The youngest of four children — Tommy, Stevie, and Linda — Alan brought a special,,, light and laughter to his family from the very beginning.
While in Augusta, Georgia, Alan met the love of his life, Carol, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, and family. From their union came four wonderful children: Annette Moody, Cornelious Moody, Sabrina Moody, and Walter Stokes.
Alan proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, demonstrating the same courage, dedication, and loyalty that he carried into every part of his life. Family was always at the center of who Alan was — he put the needs of his loved ones before his own and was always there to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or a word of wisdom. His compassion, strength, and steady presence were the heart of the Shelton family.
Alan was blessed to be a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 7. He often said, “You can’t spell FAMILY without Alan,” and that couldn’t be more true. His life was a reflection of generosity, honesty, respect, and kindness — values he lived by and passed down to everyone who knew him.
Alan touched the lives of many and was loved beyond measure. Though his time here has come to a close, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his daughter Annette, who passed on September 14, 2025, and has joyfully rejoined his beloved wife Carol and daughter Sabrina in eternal peace.
As much as we wanted to keep you here, God needed you more. Your love, laughter, and legacy will live on forever in our hearts.
A ceremony to commemorate Mr. Shelton’s life is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Families First Funeral Care Chapel. This will be followed by interment at Beaufort National Cemetery.
