Alice Jacqueline (Jac) Gilliam Locke passed away January 16, 2025. She was born on May 31, 1931, in Richmond, VA and lived in Williamsburg, VA for her last 57 years.
She was married for 69 years to Bruce Locke, Sr. until his death in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her father Edwin Gilliam, her mother, Fracis Reed, sister Joanne Ashcraft and nephew Michael Drinnon.
Jac is survived by her sister Pat Storbeck, son Bruce Locke, Jr., daughters Elizabeth Locke Drinnon (James) and Alice Locke, grandchildren Bruce Drinnon, Jaycie Drinnon
Knudsen, Jake Drinnon, Jacqueline Dorset and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1953 with a BA in Art and
received her Masters in Education from College of William and Mary in 1976. After moving to Williamsburg, she began teaching art in the Newport News Public Schools for one year and the next 24 years, high school art in the Williamsburg James City Public Schools at James Blair High and Lafayette High School, retiring in 1991.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
