Amanda Perry Hooper, 52, of Savannah, GA, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes, Covid, and Congestive Heart Failure.
She was born on September 10, 1970, in Savannah, GA to Barbara (Bobbie) Shelton and Charles G. Perry, Jr. She graduated from Roy C. Ketchum High School in Wappingers Falls, NY, with a high school diploma, and from the program in Cosmetology through the B.O.C.E.S. program of NY. She was a Master Cosmetologist, and before becoming ill, she was employed with Great Clips in Chatham Plaza in Savannah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sean Hooper, father, Charles G. Perry, Jr., her aunt, Marlene Shelton Stineman and grandparents Charles and Barbara Perry and Beverly and Mervin Shelton.
Amanda is survived by her mother, Barbara (Bobbie) Shelton, two sons, Joshua Graham, and Justin Hayden; uncle, Steven W. Shelton (Debra) of Flowery Branch, GA; aunt, Barbara Perry; uncle, Robert Perry; special cousins: Bobbye Aaron; Stephanie Shelton Kisgen (Patrick); Kim Shelton; Roxanne Spencer; Robert Myers (Diane); Jon Cohen (Wendy); Margie Standard; Melanie White (Chaz) and Fred Wasson (Sarah).
Amanda was a fun loving, talented young woman with a big heart who loved everyone. She was an excellent Hair Colorist and made everyone look and feel better when they left her Chair! In memory of Amanda, the family asks that everyone wear something pink, Amanda’s favorite color, if they wish.
The family would like to thank the Physicians and Staff of the Emergency Department at Memorial Health University Medical Center for their excellent care where Amanda visited numerous times over the past two years. They are the best!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Amanda and her beloved dog Peaches, to the Humane Society of Savannah at 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, 31406.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 17th at 3:00 pm at Unity of Savannah, 2320 Sunset Boulevard in Savannah.
