It is with profound and immeasurable sorrow that we announce the passing of Amber Denise Overton, who departed this life on May 25, 2025, at the tender age of 41. Born on September 14, 1982, in the vibrant city of Augusta, Georgia, Amber was a truly radiant soul whose luminous spirit touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Amber spent the formative years of her life and the majority of her cherished existence in her beloved hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Seven and a half years ago, she embraced a new chapter, making Savannah, Georgia, her cherished home, where she cultivated a beautiful life alongside her devoted husband of 13 years, Aaron Mitchell Overton. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
A testament to her dedication and intellect, Amber was a proud high school graduate. Her pursuit of beauty and artistry led her to become a distinguished and decorated graduate of the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology, where she honed her exceptional talents. Beyond her formal accomplishments, Amber was a captivating model and an unequivocally expert bartender, infusing every endeavor with her distinctive flair and unwavering passion.
Amber’s boundless creativity and exhilarating zest for life manifested in a myriad of cherished passions. She found immense joy in the melodic expressions of singing and dancing, the thoughtful crafting of poetry, and the vibrant artistry of spray paint projects. She possessed a particular delight in coloring hair, especially her own, always embracing new styles and bold expressions. Above all, her heart overflowed with an enduring and profound love for her friends and family, a love that defined her very essence.
Amber’s personality was as remarkable as it was infectious, leaving an indelible impression on everyone she encountered. She was exceptionally intelligent, possessed a quick and brilliant wit that made her extremely funny, and demonstrated an extraordinary capacity to care deeply for others, often prioritizing their well-being above her own. Known for her courageous candor, she was never afraid to speak her mind, a true testament to her fierce and independent spirit. Yet, beneath this strength lay a soul of remarkable kindness and gentle compassion, loving with an unwavering intensity that knew no bounds. The many joyful hours spent on the front porch engaging in spirited karaoke sessions, often joined by friends and her daughter Robin, were treasured moments. She also cherished time spent with friends, such as by the Savannah River in Augusta, GA. Cooking with her husband in the kitchen was also one of her favorite times, even if he sometimes found himself getting on her nerves!
The cornerstones of Amber’s life, the values most sacred to her, were her marriage, the deep bonds with her friends and family, and her unwavering commitment to helping others, no matter the personal cost. Her generous spirit, compassionate heart, and vibrant presence left an enduring and beautiful mark on the world and on every individual she touched.
Amber was a cherished daughter, a beloved wife, a nurturing mother, a devoted sister, and a doting grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Patti June Gomillion Praetorius, who passed away on December 21, 2018, and whose memory Amber held dear, and her grandfather, Everett Gomillion.
Amber’s memory will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her devoted husband, Aaron Mitchell Overton; her beloved children, Priscilla Robbin Gregory, Roman Balbag, Angelina Balbag; and her precious grandchild, Addelyn Rowe. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Heather Reeves, Chad Morris, and Ryan Morris, Mallory Sanders, Natalie Rowland, Cole Sleister, Michael Praetorius; her cherished grandmother, Anne Gomillion; her beloved aunts, Pam and Peggy; and a multitude of friends whose lives she profoundly enriched with her presence and love.
