Army Sergeant Richard Silva, Retired

Retired Army Sergeant Richard Silva, 79, peacefully passed away at home on January 21st, 2022 after an extended illness.

Born on January 30th, 1942 to Antonio and Estelle Silva in East Providence, Rhode Island, Richard faithfully served in the Army before retiring and settling in Savannah, Georgia with his family. Following his retirement from the Armed Forces, he was a long-standing Longshoreman of the ILA Local 1475.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nan Sue Silva, his son, Richard Silva, his grandson, Jason Landuyt, and his brothers, Anthony Silva (Anita) and Robert Silva.

He is survived by his children, Mack Silva (Lisa) and Michelle Cooke (Lonnie), daughter-in-law, Nadene Silva, granddaughter, Danielle Landuyt (John), grandson, Ricky Silva (Leigh), granddaughter, Jessica Cooke, granddaughter, Jenna Schneider (Jordan), grandson, Jamie Cave, granddaughter, Brittany Silva, and his great-grandchildren, Dawson, Kaden, Natalie, Waylon, Kase and Stella.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred Bucci (Herb), Joan Silva, Maureen Gervais (Glenn), his brother, William Silva, and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 27th, 2022, at Families First Funeral Care on Dean Forest Road with a Graveside Service at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park – West.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
