After a courageous fight against Alzheimer’s, Barbara “Honey” Chambliss passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
She was born in McRae, Georgia on December 21, 1936. While living in Sanford, Florida she met the love of her life, Doc. They got married and had four children; Lynn Chambliss, Libby Diehl and Rea Bracewell, all of Florida and Roy Chambliss (Mandy) of Georgia. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her siblings Tommy Brown (Bonnie), Marietta Brown, J.B. Brown (Annette) and Vicki Brown.

The family sends its greatest thanks to the people at the Effingham County Care Center for the love they have shown Honey.

Lost a part of my world today
My Mom, one of life’s best gifts, she was Someone to treasure all life through, She’s caring and loving, Thoughtful and true,
Someone who is always a special part of your life,
Someone who holds a prime place in your heart, She’s a mentor, a confident and also a friend, Someone on whose love you can depend.
A mom always has your best interests at heart, She’s someone so dear and so good,
She’s a blessing, she’s a gift,
She’s a treasure like no other,
She’s someone that is truly wonderful. Wherever you go, and whatever you do,
A mom’s love will always see you through,
A mom is truly invaluable,
Indispensable and unforgettable.
I wouldn’t want anyone but you,
And that’s why I’m so grateful,
that life picked you for me.
I miss you so so much, I know you are with Dad walking hand and hand, I’ll be looking forward to seeing you and dad when ya come for me.
Love your daughter,
Lynn

What is unconditional love?
According to the Urban Dictionary website, the term means “the affection that a person shows that has no limitations or love without conditions”. It’s a love that is shared from birth to old age. But no unconditional love can be compared to the unconditional love of my grandmother, Barbara Helen Chambliss.
Though she isn’t here with us, we can still hear her voice, her Uplifting laugh, and still feel her love around our hearts.
Today, we celebrate the life of an important person in our lives that taught us a lot of things, unconditional love was one of them. She taught us how to keep our heads up out of the water during a storm. She was our rock when it seemed like the world was against us. An amazing soul that never set limitations on the love she gave and she showed us what family really meant. She kept us close as a family should be when it was necessary She was our roots that kept us grounded. She was our matriarch that kept us whole,
She was our best friend, our sister, our mother , our “Honey”.
A nickname given by her Grand children after an act of flirtation by her husband. Starting from the first Born grand child through the next generation of great grand children. Honey’s name will forever be in our memories and our in hearts.
We have many memories this is true and I wanted to mention just a few.
I remember as a kid, we baked cookies every Christmas until I thought I was too old and passed on to the younger granddaughters…
(humor) and I just want to get this out of the way real quick on a funny note to the other Granddaughters…I got to do it with her all first…so there…(laughs).. even though she isn’t here, we still fight for her affection…it has been a honor arguing with you guys on who she loved more..i have to break it to you…she loved us all equally and with all of her heart.
I remember at family gatherings Honey playing the guitar and singing next to Poppa, her favorite songs. Her favorite songs were by Patsy Cline. Her Melody enlightened our ears that we would beg to hear more. I would give many lifetimes to again hear her sing again.
And I will forever remember her smell with every hug.
We all have special memories but the best memories is the love she shared with all of us.
Thank you “Honey” for sharing your life with all of us.
