Brenda Jean Yancey

Brenda Jean Yancey, cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Savannah, Georgia. She was 60 years old. Born on Tuesday, April 26th, 1966, Brenda brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

A lifelong resident of Savannah, Brenda was the devoted daughter of the late Robert Lee and Betty. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, who instilled in her a sense of resilience and compassion that defined her character.

Brenda dedicated much of her professional life to her role as a secretary, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering commitment to her work. Her colleagues often remarked on her ability to bring a sense of calm and order to a busy office environment.

Outside of work, Brenda had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her garden, where her vibrant blooms reflected the beauty she sought to cultivate in her community and within her personal life. Her garden was a haven for many, much like Brenda herself.

She is survived by her husband James Timmy Yancey; her son, Timothy Shawn Yancey; her daughter and best friend, Rebecca “Becky” (David) Marchant; her grandchildren that she adored; and her 8 beloved kitties.

Brenda will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, and her ability to lend an empathetic ear. Brenda’s grace, strength, and warmth were testaments to a life well-lived in service to others.

In honoring her wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and close friends will gather to remember the love and joy Brenda brought into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brenda’s honor to a local charity of choice in Savannah, reflecting her deep love and commitment to her community.
