Brenda Joyce Boykin

Brenda Joyce Boykin of Port Wentworth, age 71, passed on Friday at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

 
Brenda was born December 9, 1942 in Savannah. She attended the public schools of Chatham County and was graduated from R. W. Groves High School in 1961. She esteemed herself as a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother. Her life was taken by a particularly aggressive form of colon cancer that outraced the best efforts of her Physicians.
 
She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Joyce Boykin, her infant son Mitchell and her good friend Libby Warren.
 
She is survived by her children Maurice John (Johnny) Stark III and his partner Brandy Wood of Marietta GA; daughter and son-in-law Leila and Henry Perkins of Savannah GA; daughter Michelle and son-in-law Jack Caldwell of Port Wentworth; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Donnette Boykin of Pace FL; sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Andy Weaver of Casa Grande AZ;  grandchildren Jennifer Stark, Nicole Stark, George Perkins, Amber Stark, Ashley Garrett, Johnathan Stark and Maurice John (Reece) Stark IV and great- grandchildren Destiny Moore, Jimmy Moore and Ayden Horton.
 
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Monday from 6-8 PM at Families First Funeral Care.
 
Special thanks are given to Dr Christopher Haberman and his staff at Summit Cancer Care, who fought for Brenda’s recovery and gave compassionate support to her family throughout the process.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center or the cancer research facility of your choosing.
