
Calvin Young, age 71, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026.
A native of Vacherie, Louisiana, resident of Savannah, Georgia.
He was the son of the Norman Oliver Young and Edna Mae Brown Young,
Calvin was a veteran of the United States Army. Calvin was employed by Freeport Chemical plant as an operator and supervisor for many years. Upon leaving Freeport he was employed as truck driver for Schneider Trucking and other various trucking companies until his retirement. He was a 1972 graduate of St. James High School. He was a faithful member of the Greater Love Outreach Ministry Prayer Line.
He was preceded in death by wife, Monique Young; parents, Norman and Edna Young; maternal grandparents, Romalis and Evelyn Brown; fraternal grandparents, Ephrain and Williana Young; sister, Evelyn Young; niece, Angellica Young.
Survivor’s include, son, Juan Nathan (Crystal); grandson, Nicholas Nathan; great-niece, Tashada Young; brother, Kirt Young (Jacqueline); sisters, Deborah Jones, Lolita Turner (Alvin); childhood friend, Bishop Bernard Willams; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Honoring Calvin’s request, he was cremated, no funeral service was held.

Mr. Calvin was a very nice person. He had a warm smile and a quiet sense of humor. He lived next door to my daughter and son in law and he was a very good neighbor to them both. He will be greatly missed. Please know that we are here for you.
