Cedar Boswell, 84, passed away on June 22, 2025. Mrs. Ruth “Cedar” Boswell was born on August 3, 1940, in Pooler, Georgia. She was educated in the Savannah public school system and went on to earn her nursing certification at Savannah Vo-Technical School. With a passion for caregiving, she began her career at Candler General Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she served others with compassion, skill, and dedication.
Affectionately known as Mom, Grandmom, and GG, Cedar Ruth lived up to her name. Much like the cedar tree—strong, deeply rooted, and enduring—she nurtured generations with love, wisdom, and grace. Cedar trees are known for producing large cones that hold seeds—a fitting symbol for the fruitful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Jimmy Lee Boswell; her children, Freddie Smalls Jr. and Andraye Walker; her sisters, Johnnie Mae Biggins (Green) and Annie Biggins; and her brothers, Emerson Biggins, Leroy Biggins, Herbert Biggins, and Chester Biggins.
Her legacy continues through her loving children: Antonio Biggins, Harriett Walker, Judy Smalls and Ronnie Boswell(Shawn Boswell). She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Michelle Jones; a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Cedar Ruth’s impact is immeasurable. The seeds she planted—in the form of love, faith, strength, and perseverance—continue to grow in each life she touched. Her memory will remain a guiding light, rooted in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 11, 2025 at Families First Funeral Care Chapel, located at 1328 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Ga 31405, at 12:00 PM
