1 Samuel 6:7 "…for the Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."

Mr. Charles Anthony West Sr., "Mickey", of Savannah, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Candler Hospital.

Charles was born to Henry Lee and Vivian Prescott West on March 18, 1962 in Brunswick, Georgia and grew up in Jones, Georgia.

He was baptized at an early age at St. James A.M.E. Church in Jones, Georgia. Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on June 3, 1985. From that point on, he dedicated his life to the Lord. He was a faithful member of Overcoming by Faith Ministries in Savannah, Georgia where he served for several years as a volunteer in the children’s church. He loved reading his Bible and loved to assist others with understanding the scriptures.

Charles attended Eulonia Elementary School, then later attended McIntosh County Academy in Darien, Georgia where he graduated with honors in 1980. He later became a graduate of Savannah Technical College where he studied metallurgy.

Charles later married Francine Williams on April 27th, 1985. To this union, two children were born, a daughter Jehan, a son, Charles Jr. "Tony" and he also had the blessing of being a father figure to two special sons Marko and Tseguye.

Charles became employed by Hobart Corporation in Richmond Hill, Georgia in February 1983, where he was a welder/machinist, providing over 30 years of hardworking and faithful service.

Charles loved to travel with his family. His favorite destination was Hawaii in which he visited three times. He even learned to scuba dive. He especially loved going fishing with his father Henry, brother Bruce, his children, and his fishing buddies Kenneth "Dog" Sanders and Benjamin Clark just to name a few.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother Vivian Prescott West in 1997.

Charles leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories his loving wife of 30 years, Francine Williams-West, three sons and one daughter, Marko Jones (Evonnie) of Adel, Georgia; Tseguye Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; Jehan West of Savannah, Georgia; and Charles A. West, Jr. (Akeshia) of Savannah, Georgia; his father Henry Lee West of Jones, Georgia; one brother and one sister Bruce West (Deidre) of Jones, Georgia; Darlene (Barry) Bowens of Jones, Georgia; one special brother Kenneth Sanders (Laura) of Holmestown, Georgia. He also leaves behind grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Charles loved the Lord with all his heart. His life was truly a reflection of the way Jesus lived and it was a true testament to what Jesus did for us on the cross.
