January 21, 1957 – September 16, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Coleman Allen Johnson, Sr., who departed this life on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 68.
Coleman was born on January 21, 1957, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to the late Sgt. Willie Johnson and Carrie L. Johnson. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a young adult, he moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he began his adult life and career as a welder. He was employed by Yancey Brothers until his health failed him.
Throughout his life, Coleman was known for his strength, devotion to family, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He took pride in his love for his career as a welder and the deep bonds he shared with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sgt. Willie Johnson, Sr. and Carrie L. Johnson; his son, Coleman A. Johnson, Jr.; his grandson, Coleman Trey; Johnson III; and his brother, Lynwood Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children: daughters Na’Dia (Arki) Black of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Colette (Ronnie) White of Savannah, Georgia; and his son, Dontae (Anyiah) Lockette of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Alexus White, Naijah Johnson, Aleyah White, Nicole Johnson, Alecia White, Ta’Mera Glover, and Hezekiah Johnson — all of Savannah, Georgia; Na’Kye Coleman and Ny’Elle Coleman of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Ariyanna Lockette, Alona Lockette, and Dontae Lockette, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina. One great-grandson, Kai’son Glover of Savannah, Georgia. His sister, Kimberly (Adell) Shelton of Savannah, Georgia, and five brothers: Willie Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland; Ronald “Curtis” (Michelle) Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida; David (Lawanna) Johnson and Lowell “Kenny” Johnson, both of Savannah, Georgia; and Harold Johnson of Greenville, South Carolina. One God-sister, Mattie England of Savannah, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.
