Curtis Roberts, affectionately known as “Pops,” age 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in Savannah, Georgia. A proud Savannah native, Curtis was the beloved son of the late Maggie T. Roberts. He
dedicated over 18 honorable years of service to the United States Army, serving as a Combat Signaler for 4 years and 7 months, and as a Military Police Officer for 13 years and 5 months. His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and many more honors recognizing his commitment and courage.
Curtis was a man of profound wisdom, unwavering strength, and deep devotion to his family. He lived a life full of adventure and meaning—traveling the world, embracing new experiences, and creating cherished memories along the way. Whether serving his country or spending time with loved ones, he led with heart, humor, and humility.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Maggie T. Roberts. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his children: Anetra Roberts Williams and Nikki Roberts Scott, both of Atlanta, GA; Kyle Smith of Atlanta, GA; Johnesha Grant Capers of Savannah, GA; and Shawn Smith of Stuttgart, Germany. He is also survived by a host of beloved family members and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
