Danny Ray Clark, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia.
Dan was born on Monday, February 26, 1951, in Savanna, Illinois, to the parents of Elaine and Lyle Clark. After high school, he pursued higher education at Iowa State University, where Dan graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. This academic foundation paved the way for his esteemed career with the USDA Farm Service Agency, where he served as County Executive Director.
While attending Arthur Murray Dance Studio with his parents, he was partnered with Jean. The two just “clicked”. Jean often invited Dan and his parents over to her place after classes and won them over with her homemade chocolate pudding bundt cake. Soon after, Dan became a chocaholic and also popped the question. Dan and Jean married on June 1, 1974, and raised three amazing children together.
Dan’s warmth and generosity touched everyone he met. He was the most patient man in the world and was always willing to help another in need. This also meant leaving the house in the middle of the night and jumping on his tractor to help pull people out of the ditch.
A man of varied interests, Dan found joy in fishing, gardening, woodworking, and watching sports—particularly the Iowa State Cyclones and the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite a busy life, his heart truly belonged to his farm and the summer backyard paradise he created with the love of his life. Although farming was his passion, his wife fondly referred to it as “the most expensive hobby ever.”
Dan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Clark; his three children, Paul (Laura) Clark, Steven (Shiree) Clark, and Julie Clark; his cherished grandchildren, Amber, Cheryl, Devin, Katelynn, Enyssa, Charlotte, Addyson and Aubrey; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Weston; his mother, Elaine Clark; two brothers, Tim (Sandy) Clark and Morris Clark; his sister, Pam Staley (John Thomas) and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Clark; his brother, Eldon Clark; granddaughter Elyssa Clark; and brother-in-law Bill Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to honor his memory by making donations to Savannah Ambucs.
