Delores Shivers

On the waves of the ocean, on December 24, 2022, at her home in Savannah, GA, Delores Shivers went home to be with her heavenly father. Delores was born on October 11,1950, in Elloree, SC to the late Willie Mae Shivers and Daniel Shivers.
As a young child, Delores attended school in Elloree, SC and later moved to Norwalk, Ct where she graduated from the Norwalk public school system. Delores was employed in the emergency room department at Norwalk Hospital for several years before moving to Savannah, Ga in 1993. She continued her career in the healthcare industry at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She enjoyed her role in the registration department at MHUMC. She truly loved helping her patients understand their benefits and helping them during what may be a difficult time in their lives. Delores held positions in several departments while employed by MHUMC including Day surgery, Paulsen Street Surgery Center, Heart and Vascular Center, and the Bariatrics department. In her free time Delores enjoyed spending time with her family & friends near and far, being involved at her place of worship, Alpha & Omega, shopping, traveling to the beach, watching sappy romantic movies and ALL the Christmas movies during the holiday season.

Delores was a devoted mother to Andre Christopher Joseph Boyd (Lorraine) and Danielle Kenyatta Inetha Brame. She was an amazingly supportive Grandmother, affectionately known as Ma’Dear to her grandchildren Malcolm Boyd (grandson) and Chantal Andria Boyd (granddaughter), and as MaMa to Rayvonn Kaleb Hardy (grandson). She was also a loving aunt to Dominique Dekato Caramanica (Chrissy), Jazmine Monique Caramanica, Leon Sellers, Lynette (Donta) Alston, and Antoine Maurice Allen.

Delores was preceded in death by her sister Geraldine “Gerry” Williams, her brother Maurice “Smokey” Butler, and her beloved sister Patricia Ann Shivers. Also, her great aunt Maybel Thompson, great aunt Arthur Lee Woods, her uncle Cornelius Cheeseboro, and her aunt Maryann Cheeseboro. Delores has two surviving siblings her loving brothers Leroy Sellers and Moses Huggins (Karen) of NY.

Delores, affectionately known as “Lois” by her family and as Dee by her sister friends, will be missed incredibly by her loving uncle James Shivers (Queen) of SC and aunt Ernestine Shivers of SC, along with her God-daughter and first cousin Nichelle “Nikki” McBride (Stacy) of SC, Gregory Shivers (Shirley) of VA, and Brian Shivers of SC, her cousins Barbara Keels of CT, Thelma Davis, Deidre Davis, Tenoi Davis, & George Davis Jr. of CT, her Godchildren Damian Bigelow of CT, Dereisha Lorian Horlman of CT and Madison Ellis of GA. Delores also leaves her work family to cherish her memory including Mrs.Dorothy Parrish (Johnnie) of GA, Terry Culver of GA, and her work daughter Andrea Albany (James) of GA. Delores leaves to cherish her memory her sister friends Voncil Little of VA, Roxanne Bigelow of NC, Willa Mae Allen of SC, Sherrie Aldrich of GA, Shirley Johnson of CT, Alice Marshall of CT, and Virginia Patterson of GA.

Delores also has a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, work family, and church family that will cherish her memory for years to come.

My deepest sympathy to D’s family friends & all the loved ones. I’m sorry I just learned of her passing.

I will always remember the quiet and pleasant relationship we shared in high school. Delores was uplifting and kind with a mellow sense of humor. I enjoyed our school days and a few good parties.
