Waynesboro, PA – Dennis E. Junkins, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully May 12, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on August 11, 1955, in Waynesboro, Dennis was a man who embraced life with open arms and a generous heart. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Dennis was the cherished son of Mary and Ted Junkins, and he grew up surrounded by a loving family. Predeceased by his mother Mary, and his brother David, Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Glenda Junkins, whom he married on January 12, 1974, in Gettysburg, PA. Together they built a strong and enduring partnership, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
A proud graduate of Fairfield High School in 1973, Dennis went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1993. His dedication and commitment to duty were hallmarks of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.
After his military service, Dennis continued to demonstrate his unwavering work ethic at Coleman Allied, where he served diligently for 21 years. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated professional, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word.
Dennis’s greatest joy in life came from his family. He was a loving father to his son, Dennis Junkins, Jr. (Sirreta Junkins), and daughter, Elizabeth Teague ( Samuel Teague). His siblings, Tim, Karen, David, and Marsha Junkins, were lifelong companions in his journey. His legacy is carried by his seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
An avid car enthusiast, Dennis loved spending time tinkering with engines and attending to his beloved vehicles. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life: fishing by the tranquil waters, watching NASCAR races with childlike enthusiasm, and sitting at the kitchen table, contentedly observing the birds at the feeders. His playful spirit shone brightly when he was surrounded by his great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
Dennis was a man of immense kindness and compassion, known for his lovable nature and caring heart. He was a sweetheart whose generosity knew no bounds; he would give you his last dime if you needed it. A devoted family man, he dreamed of winning big in the lottery, often sharing his vision of a larger home with a kitchen island big enough to accommodate his entire family.
As we celebrate the life of Dennis E. Junkins, Sr., we remember his warmth, his laughter, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, dear Dennis. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
