Donald Stanley Bielata, 90, of Pt Wentworth, GA, passed away on April 1, 2025. Born on June 10, 1934, in Arnold, PA, Donald lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service to his family, community, and country.
Donald was married to Naomi Bielata, whom he met while they both worked together at the Daily Dispatch in New Kensington, PA. They went on to build a beautiful life together, raising seven children: Valerie, Philip, Laura, Linda, Daniel (deceased), Ellen, and Brian. Donald was also deeply proud of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A proud veteran, Donald served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Knox, KY and Fort Monroe, VA. His career in journalism spanned several years, where he worked for the Philadelphia Daily News and Washington Daily News. Later, he retired as a foreman at East Alco in Frederick, MD, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Donald was active in his community, having served as president of the Lions Club in both Virginia and Georgia. He was also a proud member of AmVets and Bonnybridge Baptist Church. His devotion to service was matched only by his love of fishing, both deep-sea and fly fishing, a passion he shared with his family. Through his partnership with the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock (Thurmont, MD), Donald passed down his love and knowledge of the sport to his grandchildren.
Above all, Donald was known for his sense of humor and his love for storytelling. Whether gathered around the dinner table or at family gatherings, he always found a way to take center stage, captivating those around him with jokes and tales. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi, his children, his sister Carol, his brother Raymond, and a growing legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanley and Amy and son, Daniel.
The family encourages friends and loved ones to celebrate his life and to keep his family in their prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Lions Club International and/or The Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock.

Dear Mrs. Naomi, Mr. Philip and all of the family,
I am so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like Mr. Don had a full life with a big family.
I had the privilege of being his doctor for the past 16+ years. When Mr. Don first came to see me he was practically a “spring chicken” (and so was I). I always looked forward to his visits and the stories he would tell. I will miss him and will keep him in fond memory. RIP Mr. Bielata!
My deepest condolences,
Heidi M. Braun, MD
