
Yolanda Garcia, age 75, passed away peacefully February 7, 2023, after a year-long fight with kidney failure. She was born January 18, 1945, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised by Juana and Perfecto Escalet. She married her husband Marcelo Gutierrez, in July 1992, they had been married for 31 years.
Yolanda loved and cared for all her family as well as those who she met even for the first time. She loved music, dolls, watching movies, and especially sweets. Yolanda was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She loved her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made lasting friends everywhere she went.
For as long as we can remember she was a caring person who never shied away from helping someone in need and was always willing to listen, even to a stranger.
Her life was a living example of bible verse Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Yolanda is survived by her loving family husband Marcelo Gutierrez; daughters Maria Escalet and Lenore Mercardo; two sons Timothy and Bernardo; granddaughters Avion Santiago, Alexis, Christina, Thalia, Aryanna, Cecely, Hazel, and Vickey; grandsons, Angel, Marquise, Stephen, Marco, Rafael, Jonathan, Irving, Matthew, Alex, Daniel and Joshua; Great-grandchildren, Samantha, Aiden, Isabell, Savannah, Makaveli, Isabella, Saynt, Gabriella, Zara, Ezilah, Royal, Daniel, Joshua, Ajay-Joel, Steven Achilles, Julian, Xavier, and Kaynan. All of them she loved and touched deeply.
The family will receive guest Friday, February 17, 2023 from 1PM-2PM at Families First Care Chapel.
The Yolanda Garcia’s funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 from 2PM-4PM at Families First Care Chapel.
