Edward H. Ubele, Jr. (Chip), 63, of Savannah, Georgia passed away after a short illness, at the Resorts at Pooler Nursing Home under the excellent care of Nurse Sandy Bond with Amedisys Hospice. The family was present with Chip as he passed on June 16, 2023.
Chip was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 8, 1960 to Frances H. Ubele (Fran) and the late Edward H. Ubele, Sr. Chip graduated from Jenkins High School in Savannah and he served with the 117th Georgia Air National Guard for a number of years. He was an auto and marine mechanic all of his life. Chip was raised and loved anything to do on the rivers in and around Savannah, including inshore and offshore fishing, and shrimping with his 43 ft shrimp trawler named the FRAN DHU, in which he proudly built himself.
Chip was preceded in death by his father, Edward H. Ubele, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Frances Haupt Ubele, a brother John F. Ubele (Teresa), nephews Matthew Ubele, Joshua Ubele, and a niece Brooke Ubele Wilkey.
Pallbearers will be Joey Ayala, Chris Ubele, Jay Johnson, Steve Cooler, Bay Brown, and Joshua Ubele.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carnes, Tommy Cooler, and Harold Miller.
Visitation will be held at Families First Funeral Care located at 1328 Dean Forest Road Savannah, GA, Wednesday, June 21st, from 4-5pm.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah, GA, on Thursday, June 22 2023 at 10:00 am with Pastor Brian Cooper of Bethel Baptist Church of Richmond Hill, officiating . The family request casual dress attire.
