Florence Evelyn “Flo” Downey Sulsona

Florence (Flo) Downey Sulsona of Savannah passed away on Saturday June 14th, 2014.

 
Born in New York, New York on April 23, 1920 to William & Anna Downey, she was raised by her grandmother Annie Cronin and had 7 siblings. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for Veterans Hospital in New York, was a long time resident of Savannah and married Ely D. Sulsona on August 2nd, 1941.
 
Flo was an avid clogger with several groups in Savannah. Music and singing were her passions. She always lit up the room, and lived by the motto "attitude is everything." She was a most kind and giving person.
 
Preceded in death by her mother, father, grandmother, husband Ely Sulsona, her son Danny Sulsona, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Butrymowicz, and is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Raymond) Adams of Winston-Salem, North Carolina & Elaine Butrymowicz of Savannah; grandchildren, Lisa Tygart, John Gibbs, Laurie Boone, and Linda Spencer; great-grandchildren, Justin Tygart, Anna Gibbs, Anthony Tygart, Patrick Tygart, Lyndsey Boone, Luke Boone, Charlotte Spencer, and Savannah Spencer; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bonaventure Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 18th, at 1:00 pm in St. James Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
