Floyd Lee Ward, age 79, of Port Wentworth passed away Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born on October 20, 1938 in Robinson County, North Carolina to his parents, James Solomon Ward and Ruby Hunter Ward. Floyd worked in the Civil Service at Hunter Army Airfield, volunteered with the Port Wentworth Planning Committee and was a member of the Marine Rescue Squadron. He loved to fish and hunt and also go to church to worship his Savior. He served the Lord and was an active member of South Newington Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Juanita Turner & Clara Whitaker, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Wilmoth Ward; children, Paul Douglas Ward (Caroline) and Lisa Ward Cowart (Jeffery); sisters, Pat Ward & Karen Berry; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at South Newington Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held immediately following Visitation at 11:00 a.m..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parking Lot Fund at South Newington Baptist Church, 453 John Carter Road, Bloomingdale, GA 31302.
