What a beautiful obituary for a beautiful, tender human being. How lucky we all are to have known Gary. He was impossibly generous and selfless, and his memory will forever remind us to love fiercely and give whole-heartedly. Lynn, Karen, Leslie—I wish I could hold you in a hug as big as Gary’s heart. We are so heartbroken upon hearing of Gary’s passing. He indeed was the most kind and caring person and our family so enjoyed working with him over the years. Prayers for peace and comfort to his family during this difficult time. We know Gary is receiving his rewards in heaven for a life so graciously lived!

My heart is broken. Gary was a great friend when we were much younger, and any time I ran into him over the years, it was like we had been together the day before. Always happy, always funny, always Gary. Wish I could see him again.

My mother, Shirley Darden, loved and trusted Gary almost more than my pop, Frank Darden. He took care of the most private part of their lives, their taxes. He was so well thought of by them because of his professional input but more so because of his kind heart and faith in God and his fellow man. God bless his family during this time.

Gary and I have been friends since 1970, water skiing in the skidaway river, swimming and touring around .
He was also my personal friend who advised me about my personal life and money matters.

I will surely miss him

Gary was a fine man and his death a crushing loss to all who knew and loved him. He befriended the Stacy family through the Hollis Stacy Award and my 93 year-old mom was especially close to him and has stayed in touch with him over the years. Prayers and best wishes to Gary’s family and friends. Gary took care of my Dad’s (Henry F. Garlington) taxes for years. When my Dad was too sick, I had the opportunity to work with Gary. Thanks for caring and being so diligent with his taxes. Gary sounds like a generous man.

Mathew and I (Erin) want to share our condolences to the Moses family. Gary and Lynn spotted myself, Mathew and our eight year old son, Isaac, walking into the our first Savannah Bananas game. His kindness and generosity he and Lynn shared with some crazy Chicagoans touched our hearts. He saved us a seat next to him, just to ensure we had the best time at our first Bananas game. We are sending prayers to Lynn and his children as they work through their grief. We are so grateful to have met such a kind human and we share tears in this loss. The world is just a bit dim but we will ALWAYS remember Gary and his kindness.
May we all be as kind as he.

I am so sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. I knew Gary at Armstrong; we both studied accounting and the CPA. I heard from him a couple of years ago when I completed night law school. Typical Gary, he made me feel good about myself with his simple message. I truly wanted to connect with him when I returned to Savannah. Unfortunately, that will not happen.
Gary was a great friend and person; he will be missed.

I just came across online that my dear cousin Gary had passed. He was nine years older than me and my favorite cousin (not surprising as his dad, my Uncle Stuart, was my favorite uncle). Gary was always happy and always joking. When I was six or so he and his brother, Stuart, got me so confused as they kept coming into the room claiming they were the other. They laughed so hard and I still want to punch them both for it, over 55 years later 😉. I’ll certainly miss Gary but will always have a deep place on my heart, soul, memories, etc. for one of the most exceptional people I’ve ever known. Gary, I cannot help but smile inside and out just thinking of you, as you had the most infectious smile! Until we meet again coz…. Give Uncle Stuart and Aunt Joyce huge hugs for me!
