Gerald Henry Arthur Eardley, age 67, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, July 22nd at Landmark Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Colwyn Bay, Wales, he immigrated to the United States as a young man and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict, earning numerous commendations and medals. Upon returning to the United States, he was honorably discharged and married Phyllis Alexander, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Jack Alexander, in 1972. In 1980, they returned to settle in Savannah permanently and raise a family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Nannette Alexander Eardley, son Robert Jeffrey Eardley and family of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Jennifer Nan Eardley Cadlaon and son-in-law, Melvin, grandchildren Gabriel, Noah and Eli Eardley and numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the chapel of Calvary Baptist Temple, his home church, on Saturday, July 25th. His express desire was to be cremated and have his remains return to his beloved homeland, a wish the family will fulfill in the future.

Gerald was a dear friend. He stayed with me and my Grandparents Mr and Mrs, DH Blackburn. I will always remember Gerald and Phyllis. I went to their wedding. I will miss Gerald but I know he is in Heaven and one day I’ll see him again. My prayer goes out to the family at this time of great loss.
