Ginger D. Buckley Paul, affectionately known as MeMa, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025.
Ginger was born on April 2, 1947, in Cumberland, Maryland. She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1965 and married Carl Paul in 1966. Together they raised two beautiful children and later moved to Savannah in 1987, following Carl’s job with CSX Railroad.
After many dedicated years of service, Ginger retired from BB&T; Bank. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Known lovingly as MeMa, she never missed a game, recital, or special moment — always cheering from the sidelines with pride and love.
Ginger had a generous spirit and a heart for helping others. She was an active member of her church, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, and participated in many local community centers over the years. She was also an avid bowler and shag dancer, spending countless evenings enjoying both hobbies. Her online username, Shagger55, perfectly captured her fun-loving spirit and joy for life.
Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Paul. She is survived by her devoted children Kevin (Julie) Paul and Tonya (Chris) Hickman, as well as her cherished grandchildren Jackson Paul, Cage Hickman, and Harleigh Hickman. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wilmington Island. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life so full of love, laughter, and grace.
“Her love will continue to shine through the family she so dearly cherished.”
