After having lived a full life, Gladys Johnston passed away on April 2nd, 2019 at 2:25 pm, at the age of 80 years old. Gladys passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia she later made her home in Savannah, Georgia with her six children. Later, adopting 3 more children and lovingly caring for any other children struggling, Gladys was a mother to all in need. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and caring for her family while being a single mom, working very hard to do so.

Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Eddie Johnston, David Johnston and Betty Kaiser. Forever remembered by her children Sharon Ulmer (James Ulmer), Linda Elmore, Connie DuBois (C. Tracy DuBois), Stephen Elmore, Daniel Elmore, Michelle Elmore, Sylvia Lashley, and Eric Lashley. As well as her 22 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren that she loved dearly; her many nieces & nephews and extended family.

Gladys is preceded in death by her daughter Rosetta Summerford, sister, Jean Rice, sister, Irene Fragale, brother, Gary Johnston, brother, Paul Johnston, and brother, Delmas Johnston.

We will all forever remember Gladys for her big heart, infectious laugh and family picnics- truly a gentle soul.

A celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at 12 pm (viewing) and 1 pm (service) on Saturday April 6, 2019 at Families First Funeral Care, 1328 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405. The burial will be at Westside Memorial Gardens on Adams Road in Bloomingdale, Georgia.

Memorial donations in memory of Gladys Johnston can be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, https://alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/ [1].
