On Friday March 25th, 2016, Heaven gained an angel that will be missed very much.

Gladys Melinda (Sheppard) Burnett went home to join her parents, three brothers, and a sister. Although she lost the battle with cancer, she never lost or gave up in life. Her three children, Paula Jean Noble, Paul Douglas Stewart, and Melinda Stewart Johnson are who they are today, because of who she was.

Born in Dublin, Ga, she was the daughter of James Sheppard and Gladys Hall Sheppard. Mrs. Burnett lived in Savannah since the age of 5, where she co-owned, Stitches, a custom sewing shop for 15 years, was a very active member of the Windsor Forest Golden Age Center.

She is survived by her children, grand children, great grand children and two sisters, Laura Williams and Peggy Cain, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Her precious smile that lit many people’s lives stayed with her through everything, her sense of humor never wavered. Although "Granna" was loved by her family, our love for her could not hold a candle to the love she had for us. Paula, Doug, Pooh, Keith, Josh, Mindee, Amber, Douglas, Emilee, Beth, Julie, Connor, James, Zeth, Dylan, Ilana, Lela, David, Nickalye, Arabella, Noah and Turner will miss you terribly.

As a family, although she said not to thank her, that she was blessed to have my mother as her friend, we want to thank her dearest, and OLDEST friend – Marion Enslow, with or without eye brows, who held her hand until the end. We also want to thank Hospice of Savannah who held us all together.

There will be a Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at the Silk Hope Baptist Church, 4929 Pineland Drive, Savannah.
