Gloria Velasquez Rogers, age 70, left this temporary home to enter her eternal home with Jesus on February 5, 2022. She fought a good fight at St. Joseph Hospital but was ready to be with her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by her family at time of her transition.
Gloria was born on March 9, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Caprock High School and attended some college at Amarillo’s Community College. She lived in Savannah, Georgia for over 40 years and called Georgia her home but was still proud to be a Texan. Her work history included: Cashier at Rite Aid, Production Worker at Frances Myers and retired from the Georgia Air National Guard, 165th Airlift Wing as a Supervisor in Housekeeping.
Gloria is preceded in death by her father, E. P. Velasquez and her brothers, Michael Velasquez and Danny Velasquez. She is survived by her husband, Charles Lovett Rogers of Savannah; her son, Christopher Lovett Rogers (daughter in law, Amy) of Ohio; her daughter Maria Gonzalez (son in law, Arturo) of Savannah; grandson, Donavan Ramon Rogers of Savannah; granddaughters, Shelby, Emily, and Irelyn Rogers of Ohio; her mother, Jessie Velasquez (Mimi) of Amarillo; brothers, Edward Velasquez of Maryland and Jose Velasquez of Texas; and her sister, Rebecca Velasquez of Texas. She also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
She had a love for people and loved spending time with her family. She had a unique sense of humor but was always the life of a party or gathering. She volunteered her time to help with the Seed Kidz and cleaning the Seed Church. The love she had for her babies in the Seed Kidz was great and she loved being with them. Her love for traveling helped create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Her favorite place besides church, was the mountains. She could make you smile just by looking at her smile
