Harry E. Cranford, age 84, passed quietly in his sleep at his residence on September 1, 2016 from pulmonary disease and effects of throat cancer.
The son of Lewis E. and Annie Lee Cranford, born in Hyattsville, MD on April 3, 1932, is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda C. Felker.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Miriam Ellen Cranford, his five children, Jennifer C. Rankin, Cynthia C. Leonard, Richard G. Cranford, Gerold E. Cranford and Steven E. Cranford, 8 grandchildren; Brian West, Lauren West, Katherine R. Maddox, Rebecca L. Grisham, Brett H. Felker, Jonathan G. Cranford, Sarah Cranford, Benjamin E. Cranford and 1 great granddaughter Addison Grisham, his brother Louis and sisters Patricia and Linda.
U. S. Air Force Veteran, Maryland University graduate, Public Health Service / Center for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA Retiree. Harry loved his family, photography, history and mystery novels. A quiet and studious person, with extraordinary memory, who did crossword puzzles in ink. Harry will be sadly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Corse, Dr. Fred Daniel, Dr. Ronald Goldberg, Gentiva Hospice, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Candler Hospital, and friends at Publix at Largo Plaza for their wonderful care.
