Henry Nemo “Bucky” Chafin, Jr.

Henry Nemo “Bucky” Chafin Jr.

Bucky passed away peacefully in his home on Tybee Island, surrounded by loved ones. The people that knew him best, knew that he had a big heart, he was generous and loving, yet could be stubborn at times. He’d give you the shirt off of his back, always willing and eager to help anyone in need. Bucky loved Tybee Island, and dedicated his life to making it the best place on earth, he was proud of his hometown, and his own little slice of heaven. He, along with several others in the community, financed and built Jaycee Park. He spent multiple years coaching little league baseball at that park, which was truly a great passion of his. He will be missed by all of those he greatly impacted, a major father figure in the lives of so many. He is now reunited with his beloved mother Grace Odom Chafin and his two sisters, Georgia Griesbach and Phyllis Andrea Chafin. The family will hold a memorial in his remembrance at a much later date.

The family asks that should any friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor, in lieu of flowers.

P.S. Thank you TIFD for all the lift assists over the years.

Condolences for the family of “Henry Nemo “Bucky” Chafin, Jr.”

Condolence from Anna Harper Murphy on July 20th, 2021 5:08 pm

What a wonderful man Bucky was. He was so loving and caring toward our family. He coached my brother and took him under his wing and truly poured his love into him and more of us over the years! He will be dearly missed and always loved!

Condolence from Robert (Petro) Pietrusieiwcz on October 22nd, 2021 12:30 pm

I am sorry to hear that my dear friend Bucky has passed. We worked together in Saudi Arabia from 1977-79. I visited Bucky at his home on Tybee several times. I last talk to him last May or June. Little did I know it would be for the last time. I also knew his sister Georgia. He said he wanted me to be (if I out-lived him) a pall-barer. He always called me “Petro”. I would have been proud to be one. If there is any celebration upcoming, please invite me. I loved him as a brother. I look forward to seeing him in heaven when I get there. Peace, love and blessings to all!
