Hilda Evans Ashby, 93, passed away on March 13, 2022.
Born in Corapeake, North Carolina. She moved to Savannah, Georgia when she married William B Ashby. Together they raised two sons as ‘Bill’ worked for and retired from Union Camp. Hilda was a member of Southside Baptist Church and is remembered fondly by other members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years.
Survivors include her sons, William E Ashby of Atlanta, Georgia and Gary Ashby of Savannah; sisters, Mae Taylor of Corapeake, North Carolina and Peggy Scott of Suffolk, Virginia; brother, Roger Evans (Francis) of Rileyville, Virginia; grandsons, Scott Mesaros and family of Fayetteville, North Carolina and BJ Ashby and family of Atlanta; as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at noon at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in the Rugged Cross Section.

Condolences for the family of “Hilda Evans Ashby”
Gary, thinking of you often during this difficult time. I remember all those vacations when we were kids that our families took together. Will always cherish those memories of Aunt Hilda and Uncle Bill. They are both at peace now. Sending my thoughts and prayers as well as my Love.

Although I never met your mother in person I remember your fond stories of her in our youth. Losing a mother is never easy and always leaves you with a hole in your heart. She and your father are now together again in Heaven.
