James Emory Roach, affectionately known to family and friends as “Jay Bird” and “Jay” was born on May 14th, 1984 in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia.
Jay grew up to become a whirlwind of energy, known for his wild, crazy, fun, and daring nature. Jay passed away surrounded by family on April 25th, 2025, at the young age of 40. Jay leaves a void in the hearts of many as he brought light and laughter into our lives. We reflect on a life lived with an unyielding spirit of adventure and love.
Jay’s family tree is as robust as it is loving, leaving behind a large and devoted family. Survived by his sons Dylan and Drayton Roach; Father Ronald Roach Sr. (Amanda); brothers Ronald Roach Jr. (Amanda), Cameron Roach, Kalen Roach (Brianna), Mitchell Bacon (Amie), and one sister Christine Avery (John). 15 first cousins James, Tina, Randy, Brian, Amy, Mindy, Zach, Ashley, Jimmy, DJ, Joy, Chanda, Shaina, Lara, Trey and Allen Stanton and many Aunt and Uncles. Jay was preceded in death by his loving Mother MaryLee Garrett Roach; Grandparents Emory Roach Sr., and Ruby Ann Roach who always held Jay in their hearts. Additionally, Jay’s legacy continues through many nieces and nephews.
Jay’s legacy is beautifully captured by Dylan and Drayton, who were undoubtedly his greatest achievements. The love Jay had for his sons was unparalleled and filled a deep sense of pride. Let’s not forget Charly, the little brown dog who wagged his way into Jay’s heart, trotted alongside him daily, and added joy and companionship to life. The relationship that Charly and Jay shared is a testament that family comes in all shapes and sizes.
Though not religious, Jay believed in the principles of Christianity, knew the Bible front to back, and found comfort and guidance in its teachings. These beliefs were evident in Jay’s interactions, which were characterized by kindness, generosity, and an open heart.
Jay’s presence was a beacon of joy for all who knew him, and the memories shared will continue to inspire those left behind.
Family and friends will gather to commemorate Jay’s life on May 2, 2025, at Lifespring Worship Center in Bloomingdale, GA. The family will gather at 4:00 and will receive friends at 5:00 until the time of the memorial service at 6:00. This will be a time to share stories, shed tears, and most importantly, honor the vibrant spirit that was Jay.
As we say goodbye, we hold onto the laughter and love Jay brought into our lives, knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us. Rest in peace, Jay, and thank you for the memories.
