James Perry Daugherty, a native of Savannah, was the son of Sidney and Ernestine Daugherty. He is survived by his brother, Edwin Daugherty; his sister-in-law, Diane Daugherty; and two nieces, Jamie Akers and Casie Poston.
Perry worked as a fastener specialist for AJAX Company for 25 years. He later left to pursue small contracting work so he could care for the love of his life, Carolyn, during her battle with cancer, of which she lost the fight to three years ago.
After her passing, Perry moved next door to his brother and began a new chapter in life. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Lake View Oaks Apartment Homes. He had a deep love for cats, taking in many and caring for them all.
He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Militia and also a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He recently returned to his faith, participating in confession and receiving communion. His family was overjoyed by his return to Jesus.
Though he left us too soon, he is now at peace.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Although I was not close to Perry, I was close to his mother Ernestine. She was my aunt (I guess a half aunt). May he rest in eternal peace. My grandmother was Bessie Nevils Cowart
