Linda P. NeSmith, age 80, passed away surrounded by family and friends at her home in Savannah, GA on April 30, 2024, after a short battle with ALS. Linda was born in Savannah, GA to Richard and Estelle Pipkin on November 12, 1943. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1961. Linda worked over 50 years in various industries, most remembered by many as a cashier at Scrub-a-Dub Car Wash on Victory Dr. where she met many friends over the years. She also worked at the original Leopolds, Joe’s Twin Park, a Stem Cell Research office, and Savannah Auto Auction, and retired from Southcoast Medical.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. Linda enjoyed dancing, painting/decorating, traveling, shooting darts, spending time with family, and social events.
A special thanks to her partner George Stone for his commitment to caring for her every need up until the very last moment. George was truly a blessing to us all through this difficult experience. Also, Yolonda Blackburn, Linda’s best friend for over 35 years, stayed by her side for many days and cared for her.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband John H. NeSmith, parents Richard Pipkin and Estelle Pipkin, brother James (Jimmy)Pipkin, and brother-in-law Edwin Powell. She is survived by her partner George Stone, daughter Melissa Andrews (Robert), step-son John NeSmith, grand-daughter Laila Dossey, great-granddaughter Zennia Meadows, elder sister Delores Powell, nephew Edwin Powell, niece Wanda Driggers(Barry), niece Cheryl Pipkin, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
We also want to express many thanks to the amazing team at Pruitt Hospice Care for their dedication to quality and nurturing care. Theresa, Antoinette, and Yolonda truly supported Linda and the rest of us when we needed it most.
Linda will be dearly missed by her loved ones and friends. A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later time to commemorate her memory.
