Condolence from Maxine Pinson on September 5th, 2021 5:33 pm

I will always consider Lois Ward to have been one of the closest, most loyal, and inspiring friends by whom my life has been blessed—a special friendship which spanned over four decades with nary a cross word or a look of annoyance exchanged between us. There was a mutual trust that bonded us, as well as a mutual respect.

A truly amazing lady, Lois possessed an enviable array of character traits which most of us can only aspire to attain, qualities known to Christians as “The Fruit of the Spirit”: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. No matter how upset I might have been about any given situation, just being in Lois’s presence would leave me calmed and with a sense-of-peace. Lois was also a very creative individual driven by a determination to live life to the fullest, and she did.

The last time I spent with Lois, holding her hand for an hour while sitting at her bedside, was a year ago in the Effingham Care Center. Lois chattered the entire time, and I listened—a reversal of times past! The last thing I ever said to Lois, before kissing her “good-bye” on the forehead, was: “I love you.” The last thing Lois ever said to me was: “I love you, too.”

As I was driving home, misty-eyed, following my visit with Lois, I wondered if Lois had even recognized me or had the faintest idea who I was. When I had asked her, she responded: “Of course, I do. How could I ever forget you!”

Actually, I do not think Lois had any idea, whatsoever, who I was. But her response was SO “Lois”—kind and loving. So, there was no doubt in my mind, whatsoever, that the gentle lady, who spoke those sweet words to me. was definitely my beloved Lois—and she will NEVER be forgotten by me.

Condolence from Carolyn Thompson on September 8th, 2021 2:19 pm

Much love and my condolences to the family. Before she became incapacitate, Lois was an Angel sent with a mission and I believe she worked tirelessly to complete her earthly assignments. She was the person that quietly reached out when she heard of someone in need. Her heart was beyond measure. After her illness set in, she still greeted everyone with that warm, hugging smile. I will miss Lois dearly, she was one in a million!

Lois was an exceptional lady. She had a fierce spirit, and a gentle soul. I am so blessed to have had her in my life, from the time I was born, and to have decades of special memories with her. I will never forget her beautiful smile, her calming presence, her easy temperament, her impeccable fashion sense, her taste for adventure, her palpable love for others, and her overall zest for life.
I wish her family comfort, healing, and love, as they grieve the lost of their precious mother, Granny, and friend.
