Lucretia (“Peggy”) Soucy Rugala passed away on Wednesday, March 21st, 2023, to join her 5 siblings, after complications from infection. She was born in Eagle Lake, ME on August 19th, 1950, and spent her youth in Bristol, CT. She also lived in Santa Fe, NM, and the Washington, DC area, before moving to Florida in 2011, then finally to Savannah in 2020. She is survived by one daughter, Lauren Rugala. Peggy was known to all who were lucky to know her for her humor, and creative spirit. An avid interior designer, she never lost sight of how to make a space beautiful. She also passed on her love of puns and animals to her daughter, Lauren. She found great community and support from her congregation at San Antonio United Methodist Church in San Antonio, FL. Services are undetermined at this time, but please feel free to share memories or photos if you have them.

Condolences for the family of “Lucretia Soucy Rugala”

Condolence from Kathy Sibert on March 24th, 2023 4:31 pm

Peggy was so creative and an accomplished seamstress and interior decorator. One Easter she made Lauren and her cousins Elizabeth and Andrew hand smocked Easter outfits and they looked so cute hunting for Easter eggs!

Condolence from Holly Julian Murdico on March 24th, 2023 5:04 pm

I loved her laugh and how funny she was! She always made me feel special. Playing cards and board games with her, Memere, and the rest of whatever Soucy clan members came to visit was the best time!

Condolence from Paige van Vliet on March 24th, 2023 9:17 pm

“Aunt Peg” is how I knew her and I could rave about her forever. She was super sweet, amazingly creative, talented, genuine, and 100% authentic. She created absolutely beautiful things that looked like they belonged in the most upscale catalogs or stores and she inspired others to do the same! She genuinely cared about others and I have always and will continue to treasure the talks I was lucky enough to have had with her. She was a ray of sunshine while still remaining refreshingly real. I was always so excited when I found out Aunt Peg and Lauren would also be wherever I was going because that was a guarantee it would be fun! You’re sorely missed already Aunt Peg!

Condolence from Kim Engle on March 25th, 2023 6:17 am

Lauren,
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s bittersweet that all the siblings are together now 🙏🏼
For those that do not know I am Jack’s daughter. (Aunt Peg’s youngest brother)
I was pregnant for my daughter the same time Aunt Peg was pregnant for Lauren. When my daughter was born I received a call from Aunt Peg. She congratulated me on my new arrival then said “you made a Great Aunt before I was a Mother”
I always got the biggest kick out of that. There are just 3 months that separate Cassandra (my daughter) and Lauren.
I absolutely loved the talent that came from all of my Aunts, Uncle and my Dad. They each in their own ways were all so creative. 🖤
Love,
Kim

Condolence from Barbara Kirkbak on April 2nd, 2023 1:33 pm

My friend, my confidant, my interior designer, my dinner partner at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Peggy was sooooo talented with interior design, painting, among other things. I am missing her and hope that she has found peace.

Condolence from Wendy Ruff on April 4th, 2023 4:44 pm

I was very, very close to my Aunt Peg. She was my idol as a little girl —I adored her! I wanted to grow up and be just like her. Aunt Peg was beautiful and talented but her sense of humor really stood out, and I’m so grateful for those times we had together laughing and being silly. Great memories I will never forget.
Aunt Peg, thank you for supporting me through my life—you always made me feel special. I will miss you more than I can accurately express here. I will look out for Lauren and keep her close. God love you and rest in peace.
