Lysbeth Stafford of Savannah left this earth for her heavenly home on December 9, 2020. Lysbeth, or Beth as she was known, was born in Hull, England, UK on March 15, 1929 to Emma and William Clapham. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, John Stafford.

Lysbeth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 45 years. She was active in the Ladies Guild, spending many hours making crafts to sell at the annual Novemberfest, as well as cooking many meals for Lenten dinners and other occasions. She was particularly known for her corned beef and cabbage and shortbread. Lysbeth served for many years as the Sunday School Superintendent and was also a member of the choir.

Lysbeth’s activities and service did not stop at the church doors. Her community involvement included membership in the Newcomers’ Club, and as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, PTA, and the Savannah Humane Society.

Lysbeth is survived by her children Deborah (Chuck) Fish, Alison Stafford, Richard Stafford, and Virginia (Russell) Tuten; grandchildren Katie (Jeff) Sorrells, Chelsea (Charlie) Hamann, William Berry, Caroline Berry, Nicholas Tuten, and Benjamin Tuten; and great grandchildren Lysbeth Virginia Sorrells, Fisher Sorrells, and Emi Hamann.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12391 Mercy Boulevard, Savannah with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to LWML care of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Condolences for the family of “Lysbeth “Beth” Stafford”

Condolence from Arlene Crofoot on December 10th, 2020 2:00 pm

I will never forget my “twin” Beth Stafford. We shared so much time together as we worked together at Trinity Lutheran Church. We shared a birthday…..same day, month and year ! I was born in Michigan and of course Beth in UK. My sympathy to each and everyone of you in the loss of your loved one. I’m sure you all have special memories that you will cherish.

Love and prayers of comfort and peace to each of you. Beth and I became friends in Savannah Newcomers Club, 1970s. She shared many talents with all who knew her: cooking, arts and crafts, singing and keen sense of humor. Thanks, dear Beth for precious memories! Love, Shirley
