MARCIA “BETH” COWAN

Posted By Kyle Nikola On April 26, 2022 @ 2:23 pm In Obituaries | 9 Comments

Marcia “Beth” Cowan was a generous, funny, and outspoken friend and family member. She died on April 24th, 2022 after suffering a heart attack and a short illness.

Beth was born November 16, 1956, and was adopted by James and Patricia Cowan of St. Augustine, Florida. She relocated to Savannah, Georgia in 1989 where she completed her Surgical Technician Certification at Savannah Technical College. and became a valued team member at Candler Hospital.

Beth was known for having a great sense of humor and a very generous spirit. A colleague said it best when remarking about Beth, “You do not realize how much space a person takes up in your heart until they are gone.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She had a larger impact on her circle of friends and family than she will ever know.

Beth loved animals of all kinds, especially horses and cats. She requested “in her memory” to please make a donation to the Chatham County Animal Services or the Humane Society for Greater Savannah.

She is survived by her sister Mrs. Melissa King, her nephew Andrew Greene and her cousins Deborah Pilner, Judith Boroski, and Victoria Hinkle.

I just heard today about Beth’s passing. She was my preceptor at Candler. We had so many laughs together. Everyone will miss her.

Condolence from Lori Hecker on May 2nd, 2022 5:36 pm

Beth was such a great gal and a bright spot to any day you saw her. Seems she was always up to something, would happily blow in to assist on a surgery and blow back out to get back to what she was doing. She was one of a kind and will be missed by the physicians and Labor and Delivery staff. Very sad to know she is gone.

I’m stunned to hear of Beth’s passing. I worked with her in L&D OR for many years. She was such a unique gal, always had a story to tell and loved to talk about her cats. She was a unique individual and will be immense missed by those that truly enjoyed her friendship. RIP dear friend. By the way, l hope you got to enjoy your windfall from Spain.

I am shocked to hear the news about Beth. She was truly a special person and we bonded over our Love for our cats. And would always share stories about them. I’m sad that I didn’t get to see her before I retired. Prayers for the family 🙏 RIP my sweet friend.

Beth you were a friend to me when I first came to the GYN Surgical team and I appreciated every clue you would tell me about every Doctor so I wouldn’t embarrass myself if something wasn’t on the surgical field they needed(you had worked with them so long and they all loved you and will definitely miss you as I will too🥰

My sweet friend. It’s not the same logging on at night and not having you to play the game with. It’s not the same walking in to Candler and knowing I won’t have you as my sidekick to cut up with during surgery. I miss you to say the least. I miss getting a new YouTube video to watch from you every other day. You are loved and missed beyond words Eeyore. You’re family, you’re a friend, you’re always in my heart. – Tigger (Dawn)
