Nevada Bizzard Jackson

Posted By Funeral Funeral Futurist On March 10, 2015 @ 12:00 am In Obituaries | No Comments

Mrs. Nevada Jackson was born in Richmond Hill, Georgia on August 12, 1930 to Mr. Fred Bizzard and Mrs. Julia Adams Bizzard.  Being reared in a large family, she always cherished the very special and close relationship she had with her parents, brothers (George, Luches, Anthony, James, Eli and Eddie) and sisters (Elise and Alberta).

Her education began in the public schools of Bryan County later graduating from Alfred Ely Beach High School in 1948. She attended Savannah Technical School for a year before making the decision to go into the Nursing Field.  Her love of caring for others was not only displayed in her choice of careers, but later in her life, she took on the task of moving her family into a larger home so that she could take care of her mother during her aging years.

On June 26, 1956, Nevada married her long time school mate and love, Joseph Nathaniel Gardner Sr. (deceased).  During this union, Nevada and Joe were blessed with three children; Joseph Jr., Sylvia and Vernon. They provided a loving environment for their children that strongly stressed spiritual and educational development.  In addition to Nursing, she also became a very proficient Beautician and created a salon within her home. While handling two careers, she still managed to stay intimately involved in the lives of her children by actively participating in the Parent Teacher Associations throughout her children’s school years.

During the later years in her life, she married John H Jackson (deceased) in 1983. He provided stability and a strong spiritual presence during their union.

As a part of her spiritual journey, she became a baptized member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness on June 24, 2006. Even though she was confined to a wheel chair, she attended services faithfully with the help of her daughter and members until her health prevented her from attending.  Even then, she learned how to dial into services and was an active participant during the discussions.

Throughout her life, Nevada was known for her love of others as demonstrated in her role as a caregiver, mother, grandmother and foster mother. She was also known for her culinary skills in the kitchen.  At all of our family gatherings, everyone loved her red rice, fried fish, pound cakes and Vernon’s favorite, “German Chocolate cake”.  She was also a lover of “hats” during her younger years. For any and every occasion, she would always make sure that she wore an originally designed hat.

Nevada was a special gift to all of us and we will always cherish her memories.  She leaves to mourn her children, Joseph Gardner Jr., Sylvia Cobb, and Vernon Gardner (Charlotte); one brother, Eli Bizzard of Augusta, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Carrie Bell Bizzard of Savannah, Ga.; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 am.  It will be held at;
