Julia Weaver White, age 72, of Ellabell, passed away Friday, September 6th, 2013 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro .

She was a member of Eldora Baptist Church in Ellabell.

Julia is survived by four daughters; Deborah Cashin, Rita Cashin, Abbie A. Baker, and Julia Alexander; four grandchildren, Patricia Trout & Robert Trout who lived with her at home, Matthew Bouzines, and Tina Jordan; three great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services: Saturday, September 14th at 3 pm, Eldora Baptist Church, 303 Eldora Cemetery Rd, Ellabell.

Phillip Allen (Phill) Love

August 29, 2013 - 14 Condolences

Phillip Allen (Phill) Love, 62, of Savannah, passed away August 29th, 2013 at Hospice Savannah with his longtime partner, Pete, at his side.

Born on August 17, 1951 in Atlanta to Allen and Nell Love, he went on to graduate with a degree in chemistry from the University of Georgia, a degree in design form a school in Florida. Phill worked many years for Aromatic International in Atlanta and also was an interior designer before taking up a career as a Pharmacy Tech at the Memorial Health University Medical Center. A very active person, he enjoyed walking, reading, and cars.

Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his partner of 37 years, Peter Haskell; 2 furry kids, his dogs Andy and Barney; brother-in-law Dennis and wife Linda; a niece Heather (Sean); nephew, David (Wendy); grand-nephew, Matthew; stepbrother & sister, Chris and Terry; step-mother, Betty and aunt Evelyn.

A Gathering of Friends will be held on Friday, September 20th from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.in Gallery C of the Richmond Hill City Center, 520 Cedar Street, Richmond Hill, 31324.

Floral Tributes and Remembrances may be delivered to the Richmond Hill City Center the day before or the morning of the event.

James W. Varnedoe, Jr.

August 28, 2013 - 3 Condolences

James W. Varnedoe, Jr., age 67, passed away at his residence. A native and longtime resident of Savannah, Jim was educated at the University of Georgia, University of South Carolina, and University of Miami. A life-long educator, Jim taught at Benedictine Military Academy and Savannah Christian Preparatory School, followed by a tenure as a museum educator at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace. Jim belonged to Lutheran Church of the Ascension and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Varnedoe, Sr. and Edna Brinkman Varnedoe, and is survived by his cousin Caroline Starling (the Reverend Dr. Rudolph Starling).

Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Ascension at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7th.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Save-a-Life Animal Welfare, 4 Raintree Lane, Savannah, 31411.

He is a Vietnam Veteran, He received

The National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge,

Vietnam Service Medal, Code of Conduct Medal,

Vietnam Campaign Medal, And Basic Air Borne Medal

He leaves to cherish his Loving Memories:

Herbert F. Burns

August 17, 2013 - Leave a Condolence

Herbert F. Burns, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at The Place at Pooler under their loving care and that of Hospice Savannah.

He was born on April 9th, 1929 in Portland, Maine, joined the Marines in 1946, and upon discharge in 1949 settled in Silver Spring, Maryland. He pursued a career as a professional ballroom dancer and teacher, owning a successful Arthur Murray Studio in Washington, D.C..

He enjoyed watching most sports, but was an avid enthusiast of Washington Redskins football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

With a strong interest in American History, he read everything he could about the American Civil War and World War II.

He had a soft spot for all animals, delighting in numerous family cats and dogs. There was nothing better to him than reading the daily newspaper with a purring cat on his shoulder and a big dog nestled at his feet.

He married Elvira C. A. Shuck in 1974 and moved to Coral Springs, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elvira C. A. Burns; one son, Philip (Lauren) Burns; 2 step-daughters, Stormi-Lea Fitschen (Dennis Ferland) & Dew-Ann (Larry) Cunningham; a step-son, Bruce (Rose) Shuck; 6 grandchildren, Mary (Kris) Shuman, Frank Fitschen, Lynsey Shuck, Kylee Shuck, Kristyn (Scott) Maynard, and Jonathan Ferland; and 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler Santosuosso, Jason Walters, Jr., Samantha Maynard, & Emily Maynard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the blessed and loving care provided by the staff of The Place at Pooler. Also, a thank you to Hospice Savannah for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Savannah or the charity of your choice.
