Paul A. Hames, 64, passed away on June 12, 2025. A resident of Savannah for many years, he was the son of the late V. Paul Hames, and Joyce Shuler Hames Bibeaut.
Though Paul was a native of Georgia, as a child he experienced many different parts of the US as he and his family followed his father’s job transfers to Seaford, Delaware, Taylor, Michigan, then to Jacksonville and Orange Park, Florida where he graduated from high school. Later he joined the US Navy and spent a good bit of time in Japan and San Diego. He settled in Savannah and worked for many years as a chef, and owned his own restaurant.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, V. Paul Hames, Grandparents, Stella Hames, and Sam and Dorothy Shuler, sister-in-law Linda Dalrymple Hames, and one niece, Nickel Bailey Thurman.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joyce Shuler Hames Bibeault and Bill Bibeault, siblings, Sheryl Hames Torres (Mark), Randall K. Hames, Debra Hames Theus (Mike), Kathy Hames Bailey (David), and Joni Hames Seabolt (Mike). Though he had no children of his own, he was cherished is mourned by fifteen nieces and nephews, and thirty-three grand nieces and nephews.
