Penelope "Penny" Celia Bunton, 71, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. She is reunited with the love of her life, William G. "Bill" Mooney. She is preceded in death by her parents, Celia Collini Bunton and Laurence T. Bunton, Sr., her brothers, Laurence T. Bunton, Jr. and Alonzo Collini, and her sister, Eleanor Bunton Schuman.
Penelope was retired from law enforcement having served with the Savannah Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff’s Department and as a Corrections Officer.
Penny loved her family, gardening, and Bingo. She also loved her "little country church," Bethel Pentecostal Church of God, with Brother Darrell and Sister Selah. She leaves behind a rich and colorful legacy.
Penelope is survived by her children, Josephine Coleman-Williams married to Ken Williams, Della Mooney Tompkins married to Doug Tompkins, Mary "Lilly" Mooney, Tony Mooney, and Kathee Mooney-Price married to Roger Price. She has 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
To paraphrase II Corinthians 5:8, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Penny is with Jesus, she is at peace. She will be greatly missed. We love you, Mama, Nana.
