Phyllis Buckley, 71, peacefully passed on Monday, October 19th, 2020 in the care of Hospice of Savannah.
She was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina to Shuford and Dorothy Malphrus. After graduating from Beaufort High School, she attended College of Charleston before marrying Robert Buckley and welcoming two daughters.
An avid reader, Phyllis’s love of books led her to her job with the Beaufort County Library until her retirement. She was a “keeper of things”, somehow always having whatever you needed. She enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of rain, read every book about winter ever published, and preferred the night sky to the morning sun. Most importantly, she had immense love for her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by two daughters, Erin Bower (Brian), and Shannon Cooper (Scott); four grandchildren, Hallie, Ian, Ava, and Emma; three sisters, Darlene Bollack, Lynn Westbury, and Susan Kopanski, and one brother, Eddie Malphrus.

Theron and I are so sorry to hear of Phyllis’ passing. I’m so glad we had a chance to visit a few years ago with Phyllis and her mom and her sisters. Even though we’re kin and don’t live that far, we never really got a chance to visit that much from here in Ga. to S.C.. Prayers and thoughts for the family.

I worked with Phyllis in Tech Services. I loved her so much. We were kindred spirits. Enjoyed many meals and Scrabble games with her. She was an amazing Scrabble whiz! So sorry to hear of her passing, but hope her spirit is soaring free now.
